Open the door to business growth

Help to Grow is a £520 million scheme to help owners of small and medium-sized business expand.

Help to grow

The government-backed Help to Grow: Management programme is designed to help business leaders learn new skills, reach more customers and boost profits.

Help to Grow: Management offers senior business leaders management and leadership training, delivered by business schools across the UK.

Why has the programme been developed?

The UK has a longstanding challenge with SME productivity. We’re home to some of the world’s most innovative firms but have a larger proportion of less productive firms than our peers, such as France and Germany. There's strong evidence that leadership and management skills and digital adoption are key drivers of firm-level productivity:

Announced as part of the 2021 Budget, Help to Grow will help small businesses to improve their management and digital adoption and reach their growth potential.

The government-backed Help to Grow: Management course will open the door to growth for thousands of business leaders.

Delivered by leading business schools across the UK accredited with the Small Business Charter, Help to Grow: Management will be delivered by SME experts. It includes 50 hours of training, 1 to 1 business mentoring, and the support of a network of like-minded peers.

The 12-week programme costs £750 and is 90% subsidised by the government. You can take part around your existing work commitments and learn with a blend of online and face-to-face sessions.

The course covers strategies for growth and innovation, leading high-performance teams and digital adoption, financial management and responsible business practices. You'll hear from inspirational business leaders and learn alongside local peers, with access to a national alumni network.

By the end of the programme, you’ll have developed a tailored business growth plan to increase productivity, grow your revenue and help take your business to the next level.
